My husband Keith and I are 29 and 31 respectively and are from Tennessee. This was our first cruise and our first vacation ever without our three children!!

I guess I'll just start from the beginning. This trip kind of got off to a rocky start. Keith, my husband, pulled a muscle in his back on Thursday night. He was not doing any strenuous activities. The cause is still a mystery to us. On Friday morning I drove us to Nashville to catch our flight, since Keith was still not feeling well. Our flight went well. We arrived in Ft. Lauderdale around 5:00 p.m. We were going to take Tri-rail from the Ft. Lauderdale airport to the Miami airport, and then catch a cab. But we took the contingency plan. We rented a car from Hertz. It only cost us $65, and we could drop in off in downtown Miami. This was only about a mile from the port. Then they supplied a cab to the port.

Our Cruise Critic group had decided whoever was in Miami on the 4th we would meet at Bubba Gump's to eat and watch the fireworks together. Keith and I were running late getting there, due to our change in plans. It was so nice meeting everyone and putting a face with their Cruise Critic user name! After eating, Keith decided to take the people mover back to the hotel. I stayed with our new Cruise Critic friends. One family was staying at the Marriot right next to our hotel, so I could go back with them. The fireworks only lasted about 10 minutes, due to some mechanical problem. We decided to take the people mover back to the hotel. However, everyone else had the same idea. There were probably 100 people waiting very impatiently on it. We decided to just try and catch a cab. Well traffic was bumper to bumper. That was impossible. So, on to plan three, walk. It was took us a while but really wasn't that far. Maybe 1½ miles?
