Traveled with children

We enjoyed our experience on CostaMagica. Our room was shared by two adults and two children and it was very spacious by standards with a window that was a complete wall. The adult bed was a queen, one twin was against the wall and a bunk pulled out of the ceiling. We had a lot of room in the cabin!

The atmosphere on ship was very "welcoming" and "unstuffy." The entertainment is not the same caliber as Royal Caribbean's Line or Princess's, but it was rousingly delivered! The recreation staff, i.e. Cruise Director & cohorts really make the ship an "enthusiastic, warm, fun environment." Many passengers became involved in the activities offered because of the staff's energy whether this was for a deck exercise class or a dance lesson group activity. This crew kept "momentum on the move."

We were concerned about the issue of food prior to leaving for vacation, having read some poor reviews of the fare on CostaMagica. All in all, we were relieved after our first day of meals. The food for the most part was good. It is not as lavish a presentation as Royal Caribbean or Princess. For example, desserts are more "European" in nature...not emphasizing carbs & sugar, more emphasizing fruit, cheeses, gelato, simple pastries... Beef Filet was delicious & offered in several dinner selections as was a variety of seafood. The one selection that was poor was shrimp which was served with legs, eyes,....and was soggy & fishy tasting. The waiter was more than willing to get us something else when we politely objected. Baked Alaska was one of the Christmas Dessert Highlights.
