We drove to the World Cruise Center from Tucson arriving about 12:30,dropped off our baggage, and parked on site. All very convenient. Embarkation was fairly easy. We had pre-registered so our wait in the Express line was only about 10 minutes. Unfortunately the next step involved waiting about a half hour before boarding. No big deal but the sight of people spread out all over and sitting on the floor didn't exactly set a festive tone.

Our balcony room on the Caribe deck was more than adequate with plenty of storage. The balconies on this deck are great. Large and half sheltered by the balcony above. This is in comparison to the balconies on the deck below which although large offered no privacy. Our cabin attendant, Catherine, was a joy. Always pleasant, smiling, called us by name, and kept our cabin tidy. In fact, most of the staff was pleasant and smiled a lot.

We had any time dining which worked out fairly well. The flexibility was something we appreciated but it had some downside. It was a little strange to figure out in the beginning and some of the waitstaff seemed aloof. The other thing is that having themed restaurants but essentially one menu is rather odd. The Sterling Steak House was excellent as was Sabatini's. The food was superb and the service much more attentive. You probably shouldn't have to pay for that--but oh well. In general, the ship's food was good to very good but not necessarily outstanding. I loved the pizza on deck. Light thin crisp crust. It was very popular.
