Constellation - Bahamas

Sail Date: November 2005
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

Sailed on a repositioning cruise from New Jersey to Grand Bahamas, Nassau, St. Maarten, St. Thomas and San Juan. This was our 12th cruise and I must say the ship was the nicest we had ever sailed on. We had not booked Celebrity before and were astounded at the great service and fine accommodations we had on board.

Our stateroom with veranda was perfect and our stateroom attendant Rebecca was the most conscientious we'd ever had. She just couldn't do enough to please us and did so in a very pleasant manner. Our stateroom was the furthest one forward on the Starboard side with a veranda, so we had a wall on one side of our veranda which was great as it blocked any wind at all while we were moving. It made it very pleasant to be able to sit outside with a little protection from the elements.

We dined 2nd seating at a table for 8. One couple never showed up and one couple had some medical problems so we basically ate with one other couple at a large table. Service was More fine, although we felt the waiters had a tendency to interrupt conversations to repeatedly ask how we enjoyed each course of our meal. This was the only negative we found on the entire cruise.

The shows were phenomenal. We thoroughly enjoyed the singers and dancers and felt they were extremely talented and diverse. All of their productions were top shelf and are not to be missed.

The casino wasn't very good to us. We felt we were making a daily deposit to a bank. There were, however, others around us who were winning. It just seemed that it wasn't our time to get lucky. We mainly played slots and did so every evening. There were plenty of machines eager to take our donations.

Both embarkation and disembarkation were well run and efficient. I would suggest though to anyone disembarking in San Juan to not utilize the ships transfer to the airport. The way they do it, is they put everyone in buses to be taken to the airport after you've claimed your luggage. Your luggage is then taken from you and put in a truck for transport to the airport where you retrieve it in the airport driveway with about 100 other passengers. It is total chaos. You'd be better off claiming your luggage pier side, getting a cab and having the driver take you with your luggage to the airport where you can be dropped off at the proper airline check-in spot and easily check in with your luggage curbside.

All in all, this was a great trip that we enjoyed very much. We will definitely cruise Celebrity again and probably will make that our first choice next time. Less
