The Majesty of the Seas is an older ship and just can't compete with some of the amenities of the newer ships. I feel though it makes up for the differences in other ways: less people; you still feel you are on a ship instead of an enclosed mall; you tend to run into the same people; it feels more personal. Yet you still get the special treatment you expect from a cruise and the same ports of calls. Everything was very clean, the staff were friendly and tried hard to please. The price I paid I felt was a bargain for everything I got and it still felt first class.

Because the size of the room nor having a window or balcony is not important to me I purchased the cheapest room offered: inside on deck three. Yes the room and bathroom were very small and getting banged up but I didn't mind as I only spent time in it to sleep. I did not experience any sewage smell that previous reviewers have reported. One disadvantage about being on this deck is that the elevators are highly utilized and therefore very hard to get. Walking up from deck three to deck eleven for buffet lunch or the pool can be quite tiring! I thought the food was very good on this voyage - much better than on the Empress of the Seas that I was on last month. Yes I did two 3 day cruises in two months! Both were very bargain priced and I just couldn't pass them up. The Windjammer had a good variety of foods for every taste - I sampled many things and they all tasted good - not typical bland buffet taste at all. At first it is confusing where to get the plates and drinks but you eventually get the hang of the layout. At the midnight buffet poolside they even barbecued - I thought that was a great touch and it smelled wonderful even though I was still stuffed from dinner. At dinner when I ordered steak it was tender and cooked just as I ordered.

The first welcome show was not impressive. The audience just didn't get into it as they should have. There was just so much dancing that you got tired of watching them flail around all the time - it got old. The second show of the RCL dancers was much better and the show with the professional singer/impressionist they hired everyone loved. I picked RCL 3-day cruise over Carnival's even though their sailing was cheaper because I love to go to RCL's private island CocoCay. If you get a nice day this will be the highlight of your trip. If you want to get the feeling of what it would be like to be on a deserted island walk down Wanderers Beach on the other side - eventually you get to an area where there are no people. I spent some time there and then walked back to the nice lunch they serve right on the island. The next port of call is Nassau. After an excursion on the Sea Explorer which was enjoyable I then did some shopping. Since it was Sunday many stores were closed and the straw market was disappointing as it seemed to me everyone was trying to sell the same stuff; mainly fake designer purses. I went back to the ship at 1pm, had a nice lunch again at the Windjammer buffet, then laid on a lounge chair poolside listening to the live band. They played until sailing at 5pm. I noticed that a Carnival ship next to us that was getting ready to leave at the same time did not have a band playing. Make sure you are on deck when sailing. Nassau always has many ships at port and it is fun to waive bye to the other cruise ships, hear RCL's loud ship horn, watch the sunset, listen to the band, and stand at the railing above the gangway watching people miss the ship. Be sure to get on board on time!
