After 40 cruises, this was the worst. The ship is too big and I have a hard time walking. From the main dining room to the theatre is a long, long way.
They have a number of ideas that were new to me. 1) Pick your own time and place to eat. 6 Dining rooms, four of which have extra admission fees. The fun of cruising was always to be assigned to a table of strangers who before it was over became your friends. I have cruised over and over again with many people I had met on cruises and am still in touch with quite a few. On this trip I met no one. The idea of eating when you feel like it is good theoretically but since the shows are on a regular time schedule, everybody still eats at the same time, like first and second sitting. But you lose the fun of having the same waiters, often from different countries, with whom you become very friendly and who know if you want coffee or iced tea etc.
The "no tipping" program is also not effective. The waiters don't care as much for you as when they expect and receive large tips. And there is a daily surcharge of $10 for"service" and you are still suggested to give something to the cabin steward.
