Carnival Miracle - Western Caribbean
Embarkation - Went very well. We arrived at 11:30 checked our bags with the porter outside went in with our paperwork in hand. We waited about 10 minutes in a security line (x-ray and metal detector). walked up to the desk (no lines) received our sail and sign cards and sat down for about 20 minutes before our section was called to board. Walked on and headed for the food on the Lido deck (Horatio's).
The food - We really enjoyed the food in the dining room and ate there all evenings. The food on the lido deck was good. The pizza was just OK when fresh out of the oven, not so good otherwise. Our waiters Agus and Rosauro (the happiest guy on earth) were GREAT!!! We never had to wait for anything. Bar service in the dining room was very good also. Enjoyed the soft serve ice cream/yogurt. If you like Rum drinks, get the specials...They were gooooood!
The Entertainment - Some shows were better than others. We really liked "Ticket to Ride" (The Beatles show). Not so More crazy about the hypnotist (he must have been good, because he put me to sleep). The band that played in Frankie and Johnnies was GREAT! We found ourselves in there as much as possible. The guys playing out by the pool were mostly good. Karaoke was OK (not a big song selection). The deck parties were a lot of fun! The more involved you are, the more fun it is.
Excursions - We booked everything privately on-line. Had the best time. Stingrays with "Captain Bryan" in Grand Cayman, Cave-tubing with "Coral breeze" in Belize and Mayan Ruins with "The Native Choice" in Costa Maya. No stop at Cozumel because of Wilma. I posted reviews of the excursions in the message boards "ports of call" section. Tenders were not a problem.
The Ship - Very clean and easy to get around. The elevators were super fast. Our balcony cabin was very comfortable and had plenty of room. Our cabin steward Navena was super friendly and bent over backwards to make sure we had the best stay. She was very talented with the towel animals too. The Cigar bar and the Casino were on two different decks so it was difficult to dodge the smoke at times. The shopping area was nice. You had your choice of pool areas to go to. Some were quiet, some were loud. All had nice hot tubs. The aft pool was adults only. I never had a problem finding a lounge chair near the pool. There were some kids aboard, but they were not out of control. Be sure to explore the whole ship.
Things to bring - The bungee for the balcony door, MP3 player and speakers (the music on the TV was not so good), Bug spray (for the excursions), binoculars, alarm clock, Digital camera and underwater case. Oh and "Shoe Goo" (no glue of any kind to be found on or off the boat).
Debarkation - Couldn't be easier... Put your luggage outside your door the night before. Get up in the morning, go eat breakfast. Head back to the room and get your carry off stuff. Walk off the boat, get your luggage, go through customs and find your car. literally took 10 minutes total after breakfast. No more waiting in a certain area until your color is called. You had to be out of your cabin by 9:30 am.
Can't wait until next time!!! Less
