My husband and I have been on 2 cruises, the first being with Carnival. (Let's just say we will never sail Carnival again!) We were traveling with my sister and her husband who have been on many cruises. Because we were traveling with someone in a wheelchair, we were one of the first on the ship once it cleared customs. The line to board did look long, but I never heard any complaints.
The Caribbean Princess is truly a beautiful ship. It is also very large, so make sure you check which elevator to take before you leave your cabin! Also, to help you get your bearings, the port side of the ship has a reddish border in the carpet! After a day or two we were finding our way around without any problem.
My husband and I decided to splurge for a mini suite. I promise you it is worth the few extra $$$$! We will never book a regular cabin again. The only down side is that the balconies have no cover over them. The up side is you get to meet your "neighbors" and at night you can stretch out in your lounge chair and gaze straight up at the moon & stars! On the last night there was a piece of pizza thrown down, but no biggie. Our wonderful room steward Louie took care of that and all our other requests/needs! He was great. Although we were sailing at full capacity, we never felt crowded. There were minimal lines at the buffets, plenty of seating (both at the pool, restaurants and Movies Under the Stars) and the wait for an elevator was never more then a few minutes. We selected Anytime Dining which worked out great for all of us. A lot of days we went our separate ways but met up for dinner. Very convenient! We ate at the Sterling Steakhouse one night and it was wonderful. Not being a seafood lover, I really did not like Sabitini's. Everyone else loved it! Just prepare to be STUFFED! The buffet's were nice, but towards the end it became the same ole same ole. The desserts were the best!
