For weeks prior to this cruise (my first with NCL) I read countless reviews of the Star. I decided to have an open mind, and not be influenced by the things I had read. My cruising party of five arrived in San Pedro approximately noon. We were booked for adjoining mini suites, and we used the Suite check in. The line was not long, and the process took only a few minutes before we were headed for the gangway. We were met by a crew member who took the two carry-on bags, and escorted us to our cabin.

It was lunch time, and we went to the Market Cafe for our first taste of the buffet food.....and we found it to be very good. As a group of five women traveling together, one made the comment, "If I did not have to prepare it, it is delicious". We all agreed, and wondered about all of the negative comments we had read on many reviews about the buffet food. Of course it is not gourmet food, but the variety was very good in all food categories.

When we returned to our suites, we asked our room steward to arrange to have the adjoining door opened, and the wall between the balconies opened. That was completed in just a few minutes our request.
