This was a honeymoon cruise for me and my wife. My second cruise (although it was about 15 years ago) and the first one for my wife. We had some doubt about going on a cruise do to the 7 day length (what are we going to do for 7 days! and can we handle being on the sea) and mixed reviews about the food. All of that was quickly dismissed. The Star Princess is the most impressive ship I have every seen. Wait until you pull into port with other ships and you'll see what I mean.

The embarkation process was not too bad mainly because they got delayed coming over from the Baltic (this was the first Caribbean cruise of the year) and we showed up earlier than we were told and they had stared boarding. The room was small upon first look but it was more than enough room for us. Of course we had to get a balcony room (there are over 700 balcony rooms on this ship) and it was well worth it. A note about the balconies. If you are not on the 2 highest decks (Aloha and Baja) everybody from higher balconies will be able to look down into yours so you will have no privacy. Also the lowest level of balconies has no protection from the rain. One of the cool things we did was sit on our balcony through an incredible thunderstorm one night. We couldn't have done that on a lower level.

One bad thing about our room though was it's location underneath the pool area mid-ship. Every morning about 5 am you could hear people moving chairs around near the pool. Nothing major but it did become an annoyance by the end of the cruise. So if you do get on the Aloha deck try to avoid the mid-ship rooms. Otherwise stick with the Baja deck for privacy on your balcony. We found ourselves using the balcony a lot. We used it for breakfast a couple times, evening drinks, and to just relax and watch the ocean. Our room steward Nilo provide us excellent service and always seemed to be there when we need him.
