For our 25th anniversary, my wife and I chose a trip to Hawaii. Two days in Oahu, a cruise on Pride of America, and six days in Maui. We travelled with another couple, who expressed similar views.
This was our sixth cruise, first with NCL. Having followed cruisecritic.com closely for months, we were somewhat skeptical of the ability of Pride of America to meet our expectations. However, wanting to see as much of Hawaii as possible in the allotted time, we chose NCL.
Overall, ship appearance and maintenance seemed adequate. Salt spray was significant (7-12 foot seas), and the ship's exterior showed rust in spots, and weathered teak. Interior condition was excellent, if a little bit gaudy.
