In Sept. 2003, our kids gave us a cruise to Alaska for our 40th anniversary. We sailed north and toured after the cruise. our cabin was A627 on the I.P. We enjoyed ourselves and after being home for a bit, realized how much we had missed.
And so, late in 2004, we decided to return to Alaska, this time touring first and cruising south. We invited two other couples to join us, with their staterooms adjoining ours. We were able to have the room attendant open the balcony dividers to give us one long balcony to share.
Upon our arrival in Fairbanks Alaska, we were greeted with over 100 forest fires burning around Fairbanks. This placed a haze covering the area and on the day or our departure, the order to "stay in place" was given. while there, we did enjoy the Paddle wheel tour and the Gold Mine tour. We partook of the buffet dinner at Pioneer Park which was excellent and the three events were worth the cost. meals at Fairbanks Princess Lodge were very good and sitting outside on the patio was great.
