I just returned from a four night cruise on Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas. I am a 70 year young woman and I was traveling with my son and daughter who are in their 30s and 40s.

We flew down to Fort Lauderdale, Fl from Philadelphia the day before. We rented a car and drove to South Beach where we spent the day and night. We stayed at the Blue Moon Hotel in South Beach and the rooms were adequate and clean. The walls are a little thin and you can hear talking or the TV from the next room, but we lucked out and had quiet neighbors. We were able to get a good night's sleep. I had read a few bad reviews about the hotel, but it was fine and you get what you pay for. In the morning we ate breakfast at the 11th Street diner. I can't really comment on the food as I only had a bagel with cream cheese and tea. My son and daughter said their food was good. From there we went back to the hotel and checked out.

My son had returned the rental car earlier that morning so we hailed a cab and headed for the pier. We got there about 11:30 am. There was no line at all. We had our Sea Passes out and were directed to the place where we would get our Sea Pass card which is used as your room key and to get on and off the ship. So embarkation was a snap and we were on board in no time. Of course, we had to stop for the onboard pictures which only took a few minutes. Then it was up to the Windjammer Cafe for lunch. The food in the cafe is good. Not excellent, but good. I was very surprised at the helpfulness of the workers in the cafe. Someone would come around and ask if I wanted something and if I wanted tea or juice they would bring it to me. Cold drinks were being placed on the counter so you didn't have to get them yourself. There was iced tea and lemonade all the time. I had read that dishes sat on the tables and weren't cleaned off. This never happened while I was on board. Tables were always cleaned, even when you were still sitting there. Someone would come up and ask if you were finished and then take your plate away.
