My wife and I sailed on the Golden Princess on 09/24/05. We were called by the customer service department from the company we booked the cruise on. They told us not to arrive at the Pier until 1pm since there were several cruise ships in port. Our flight arrived ahead of schedule, and we had no choice but to go to the pier. Within 10 minutes we were in our cabin.
Upon entering the ship, we were greeted properly, and taken to our deck on the ship. Our room was ready as expected, and after a quick phone call, I had the eggcrate for the bed along with extra feather pillows delivered to the room.
Sailing out of the port of New York is something that should be done by all. I have flown into New York dozens of times, but you can't beat the view from the water.
