All I have got to say is OH MY GOODNESS! This was our first cruise. We were celebrating our 9th year wedding anniversary. All the research and reading on the message boards couldn't prepare us for what was the vacation of a lifetime!
I had done a little research and found out to do all you can online so you will not have a long wait to embark. Very True!! We arrived from the airport on a RCCL Transfer (very nice driver) at 2:00 P.M. it looked like everyone else got there at the same time. But, to my amazement we were on the boat in our stateroom by 2:35.
Up to the Windjammer for some lunch. The food was absolutely terrific both in the dining rooms and the cafe. The staff was simply marvelous. All the way from the captain to the assistant's assistant. (hee, hee)
The ports of call (Miami-Nassau-Coco Cay-Key West) -- The best by far is Coco Cay. There are no vultures there and you can simply have a relaxing day. The worst by far is Nassau. If you go there I suggest you go to the island take a few pictures get back on the boat and enjoy the day while everyone else is getting picked to death by the native vultures. Everybody has something to sell from a story all the way to cocaine & pot. We took the water taxi to Paradise Island, by the time we found the beach we were tired and a little upset. You have to walk through the Atlantis through a "secret doorway" to the neighboring hotel to get to the public beach. Once you come over the hill it is a feeding frenzy!!! Beach Chair, Umbrella, drinks, jetski parasail etc. All for a nominal price!
Other than that everything was fantastic. My wife and I are ministers so we didn't enjoy all the events that was happening on the ship but that is a personal preference not a reflection on the cruise line what so ever. If it was wrong they made it right, if it was ok they made it great.
***IF YOU ARE GOING ON THIS SHIP LET ME ADVISE YOU ABOUT YOUR STATEROOM***
If you are going with a oceanview state room. Go with floor 2 cabin 2578. This was so amazing. Yes, it is a little distance from the dining rooms and the lounges but you don't have near the traffic by your door and in this cabin there is only one cabin on the side of you. Now, what was also great about this location, when it was time to get off of the ship at the ports of call, it was always done from deck 1. Now you go out your door down one section of stairs and off the ship you go! Time to come back on after a day on the islands, On the ship up one section of stairs and in your room while everyone else is waiting on the elevators.
I must say that RCCL must have a computer program that pairs people compatibility to their dining tables. We had two of the greatest couple on the ship at our table. We made great friends, had a great time and will do it again!
