Wonderful cruise, wonderful ship, ship staff are excellent. I have cruised with other cruise lines but never with Carnival. Their reputation has been pegged as a "Party Ship". I found the atmosphere on board very refreshing and not in the least "stuffy". It truly is a Fun Ship. My husband and I are "late fifties" and we had a ball - even went down the water slide!
The ports were very good. In Grand Cayman, we decided to take the Seven Mile Beach excursion - $23 per person plus $5 to rent an umbrella and cab fare. Later we found that if we had just gone 1/4 mile past the Beach Club there is a FREE BEACH with chairs and umbrellas included! The beach is beautiful regardless. Costa Maya is basically a souvenir shopping area, but there is a Large Pool with shaded lounge chairs and delightful vendors - not too pushy.
In Belize, we were to go on the Cave/Tubing excursion but Belize experienced a flash flood before we arrived at the tubing sight and the excursion was cancelled. Carnival treated us to lunch, a scenic bus ride and refunded ALL our money by the time we arrived back at the ship.
My favorite port was Cozumel. We took the Snorkel Treasure Hunt excursion. The Treasure Hunt wasn't much, but the snorkeling was divine. Their personnel were great and the sea life was extraordinary. After the excursion, they gave us an arm band for an "Open Bar" at The Grill. We took a cab ride to The Grill, had a wonderful Mexican Lunch, several beers and then The Grill paid our cab fare back to the ship. There is a big shopping area in Cozumel along with shaded lounge chairs for your relaxation.
Port in Tampa is very easy to locate, easy embarkation and very organized. We stayed on Saturday night at the Comfort Suites, Dale Mabry Highway (near Tampa Bay Stadium) and they charged $3 per day to park our car. A shuttle took us to the ship and then on our return on Sunday, came and picked us up within 10 minutes.
Great Trip - Can't wait to go somewhere else on Carnival!
