Carnival Glory - Western Caribbean

Sail Date: August 2005
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral

We got to the port at 11:30am it took us until 2:45pm to get on the ship. Since we drove to the port it took us 50 minutes to drop off our luggage since this port only cater to tour buses and hotel buses. We only had 15 cars in front of us. The port officer blame it on union workers. Canaveral always has long lines. You had to get in four different long lines before you could get on the ship. WE didn't get off the ship until 11:30 am and it took us another hour to get our luggage. Our friends didn't get off until 12:30 and they didn't get their luggage until 1:30. They said there were still people on board when they got off.

The ship was very clean. Our cabin was small but clean. Our room steward was there anytime we needed him.

If you go to the Red Sail (buffet) there was always long lines, don't matter what time you went. The fish and chip was very good, it was on the 10th floor above the Red Sail. The pizza didn't have any topping on it, it was all bread. The More hamburger & hot dog grill was okay. I don't like buffet myself, but when you are around the pool all day you don't want to change to go to the dining room. If you don't like lines don't go to the buffet.

The dining room was okay, we had a good waiter and bus boy. We had a table for 10 in the middle of the dining room. The noise level was so noisy, we couldn't hear each other talk at our own table. The food choices were good other than one night. The tenderloin and steak was on the tuff side. They slack on the dessert choices, not very good. They didn't even have baked alaska. I don't care for the waiters and bus boy dancing on the serving tables, especially because that is where our food is served from.

The cruise director Mark was very good, the best in about 10 cruises. The Broadway show was good, make sure you go to the '50s '60s show the first night. The magician was not good.

We had problems with our bills, and the purser office is horrible. We had to go there 4 days in a roll and finally had to get the manager before our bill was right. They kept double billing us.

In Key West we rented jet ski on our own, and tour the gulfs. We had dolphin swimming beside us. We were supposed to go all around Key West but since the hurricane Katrina just came thru, the Atlantic was too ruff.

Belize we did the Land Rover, river, and Cave. The river ride was good, the land rover 4x4 ride thru the rain forest was fun. But the cave was horrible. They don't tell you that the cave is about 100 degree inside, and that you have to get on your hands and knees and crawl thru spots. Plus bats are flying all around your head.

Cozumel we took a taxi to Paradise Beach (free beach with real chairs and umbrella) We had so much fun, there so much to do there. For $8 dollar you can Kayak, snorkel, trampling, or rock climbing wall in the water, or just get a float. We went back to the ship around 2:30, then went to Pancho Backyard to eat. Very very good been going there for over 8 years. They make the best margarita.

Overall we had a good time. There were 9 of us. Less
