This was my second cruise, the first being eight years ago on Carnival. My daughter (15) and I were cruising this time and had an inside stateroom on the third floor. Embarkation: I had read some horror stories about waiting on line for hours and was prepared for the worse. I had pre-registered online and arrived at the ship at noon. The registration process could not have gone smoother, it only took about five minutes to process me and allow me access to the ship. While the rooms were not ready until 1pm, the Windjammer was opened for lunch. We changed into our swim suits and got some lounge chairs by the pool before heading to the room.

Room: Our room inside on the third floor and although tiny was more than adequate for this short journey with plenty of space to store all we brought on board. The shower pressure was surprisingly good, the beds comfortable and the room in good shape. The halls did smell of cigarettes, but thankfully the room did not. It would be nice if RCCL would keep smokers on one side of the ship but that might be asking for too much. If you are a first time cruiser, be prepared to hear the PA in the morning announcing the port being opened or some other general announcement repeated a few times in at least two languages.

Meals: The main dinner room was nice and the service was quite good. I never sat at a dinner setting with ten pieces of silverware before! The food was hit and miss on this cruise, the fish dishes and cold soups were above average while the meat dishes were just okay. The waiter and head waiter are very anxious for you to enjoy your meal and will encourage you to try multiple entrees until you find what you like. I ordered off the menu one night and got what I wanted to order. Breakfast was at the Windjammer cafe each day for me and I it was to my liking each day with french toast, pancakes or waffles along with the eggs, breakfast meats, pastries/bread/bagels, and other standards. The fruit served was the highlight of the morning meal with the cantaloupe as good as I've had.
