Upon our drop off at the pier a porter was right there to take our luggage. We went in the pier and the Carnival employee directed us to a line. We were in the 3rd line from the left. The middle was a sitting area and once we had got into line the line filled we were half way down. People were really getting upset that the line was taking forever. My wife and i knew that we were getting on the boat no matter how long the line was. We were at the pier 30 minutes prior to wait. we thought it funny when people were cutting lines and jumping into other lines. The first people that arrived were in the 2nd level seating area, and of course they went first, no problems there. But people were getting very upset. Once we cleared the line we went through the security area and then to the Fun Pass line. That line took no more than 20 minutes.
We had our items checked and then we made our way to the boat, stopping to get our pictures taken and to our amazement the people that had but in line in front of us, were now quite a way behind us!!!!!! We went to our room to drop off our carry on bag and made our way to the Lido deck for lunch. We decided to check out the Spa for a couples massage. We struck a deal for later on that afternoon since we had not even left port. We went to the Life boat Drill then up to a relaxing hour. Other than feeling a little oily after we had a perfect timing to go watch the skyline of NYC & the Statue of Liberty.
One small inconvenience was later on that day after getting on our way. We didn't receive our bags till 7pm which was only an hour from our dinner seating. My wife and I had already showered and were awaiting our clothes. THen to our amazement one of our bags was missing. I asked our room steward and he was like yes all bags are delivered. I looked down the hallway and the bag was about 150` from our room.
No big deal though, we got dressed and went to dinner. Since it was our honeymoon we had a table to ourselves. Truffles Lower 130. It was right near the doors so we could watch everyone enter and exit. The Maitre`D was always there to say hello and shake our hands. very nice man. Our Head Waiter and Team Waiter Ernesto and Mile. were excellent whenever we put our water down they were there to fill it to the brim. Of course like any Carnival Cruise the food was outstanding. Starter, Soup, Main Course, Dessert was always filling, The time for dinner was usually an hour to 2 hours depended on the demand. It led to a perfect timing to go back to the room relax and head right up to play BINGO. The Staff in the Follies Lounge were exceptional. Brett Alans and the assistant CD were excellent. But the star of the group was Yo Ritchie. He was young and made everyone happy. Him asking people to yell SHIP!!! if they didn't get an number on bingo, or YIIPPIIEE if you did get a number. Lovable Lloyd was annoying he was always trying to imitate Yo Ritchie.
The first 2 days at sea were a great time to relax and catch some rays by the pool. Of course Break & Lunch were excellent, then leaving some time for a nap in our fridged AC`ed room. then shower, shave and off to another wonderful dinner of the night. Then to the next great show, always something different which was excellent, Then of course we have the late night shows usually Adult rated comedy which was something different to listen too. Then off to one of the many awesome bars. The bar we loved to sit at the most was Billys Bar, which had the gentleman behind the piano, playing all great cover songs. He could sound like Garth Brooks one song then the next thing he was busting out to Elton John or Billy Joel. We racked up the money there listening to him!!!!
The stores on board were nice. Only problem is the one piece from the Jackie Kennedy Collection they didn't have. but I found it online for cheaper than Carnival's price.
The day in Puerto Rico was nice, rained on and off but oh well your in the Caribbean. We did the Bacardi Rum Distillery. Which was ok. I recommend you do something else unless you like history and getting one free Bacardi Drink. The gift shop is cool, but terribly small and only one person working at a register to attempt and get 100 people checked out took forever. If you go with a group have one person wait in line and you shop. It works out the best. The old San Juan City Tour was not the best either, we stopped at the Capital and one couple got out and walked inside to take pictures and so on. My wife and I wanted to shop before the stores closed so we left and walked around Old San Juan City. Stopping at the Hard Rock Cafe and then Senior Frogs for dinner, which wasn't the greatest. They are know for drinks not for FOOD ha ha ha!!!!!
Walking back from the city to the boats we got caught in a downpour. Oh well, but then back in the pier there was a lot of AC and it was freezing. Then the line to get back on was long because of all the people declaring alcohol was forever. Perhaps a line for just declaring people and another one for just walk ons would have been nice. We got back around 9:45 dried off and went to see the boat leave harbor.
St. Thomas was interesting we took the shore excursion to Coki Beach for snorkeling. The pick-up truck conversions to taxi was interesting. We got our snorkel gear from Dive World right down the road from Coki Beach. We snorkeled from about 2 hours then headed back to the boat. We quickly showered and headed back off the boat the take the taxi to the town. 4 bucks p.p. was worth it. The town is nice, if you want to spend some money on jewelry its well worth it. Other than that its typical tourist stores with hats and shot glasses. The cool think there was Oprah the Donkey. she had make-up and big sun glasses and her owner could make her smile for pictures very funny, esp when the man made comments about kissing your wife near the arse and whatnot!!
Tortola was HOT we decided to walk around which was a big mistake, we slept in but then walked down the road to find a few things to shop around. We then on our way back saw that we could have rented a scooter and had some fun. but oh well. We went back ate lunch in the AC`ed Unicorn Cafe. and watched our boat pull out of Tortola and head to sea.
The last 2 days at sea were full of things to do. The last formal night I decided to give my wife a surprise, ordering Champagne and flowers to the room accompanied by a small "Happy Honeymoon" cake. We get back to the room and she sees the towel Monkey and is like that's awesome. Sees the Champagne and cried. But No Cake, somehow in the mix, it never came. I went to the Cake shop and talked to the manager, he apologized, gave me a full refund, later on he called the room to apologize again and sent the cake free of charge. A nice makeup for the problem.
Other than that a wonderful time. I would do it again today if I could afford not to work!!!!
Carnival came thought again. we are looking to cruise with a large group and I suggested the Legend!
I hope this helps you out
