We had a very good experience with RCCL, leaving Port Canaveral on Sunday, July 31 and returning the following Sunday, August 7. We arrived around noon and had a relatively painless experience of dealing with our luggage and getting on the ship. The lunch was fine in the Windjammer and our room was available at 1:00 p.m. Luggage arrived a couple hours after that.

This was our first cruise and, generally, it was everything we expected. Our balcony cabin (adjoining cabin with our two children) was tight but well designed, and after a few days didn't seem so bad. Service was excellent, and the staff were both professional and friendly. Everyone was quite knowledgeable about their particular areas.

Mariner of the Seas put to rest our fears about traveling on such a large ship. Common areas were spacious and nicely appointed. From the Promenade down the center of the ship to the three-level dining room, there was a great deal of open space that helped one forget you were at sea with 3500 others plus 1200 crew.
