Ship Facts: Carnival Valor Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Valor Deck Plans
Carnival Valor - Western Caribbean
A little bit about the group. We had a group of 34...ages 10 to 78. We were the National Fallen Firefighters Survivor group...Josh mentioned us at the Valor Idol...we have lost a loved one in the line of duty and brought along family and friends.

PRE STAY......I traveled with my sons, ages 17 and 13 and my parents (70s). on Friday 7/22 We flew from LGA to FLL reason...cheaper. We prebooked a limo with Larry;s Limo Service $102 tip included to the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. We have stayed there twice before and the location is perfect. The rest of the group arrived either that day or Saturday. We enjoyed Bayside Marketplace.......ate at Hooters and Bubba Gumps and Le Cafe for breakfast. We also did the Island Queen boat ride......you can get $3 coupons off their website.

SAILING DAY...We prebooked a bus from Larry's Limo to take us from the hotel to the port. He picked us up at 10:30....Traffic at the port was tough...ya have to go down past the Victory then deal with the Victory traffic before you get to the Valor. Dropped the luggage off. There was a big hold up in the lobby of the terminal as immigration would not let them open the doors till 11:30. We got a wheelchair for my Dad and we were processed and on board by 12:15 I believe. My sons and I were in a oceanview on Riviera deck. Cabin Steward was Kevin and he took care of us..Most everyone else in the group was on Deck 8 in inside cabins or Deck 9...balcony...they received beautiful upgrades. Up to Rosies for lunch yum yum.......Muster Drill was OK...Sail away was a lot of fun.......

The ship is beautiful.......It was tough getting used to the Washington Dining Room....pink, but you got used to it and I liked it......We had 8PM seating....4 tables...aft by the windows....Wilton and Henri were our waiters......The were superb. The food was good to very good......not one complaint about dining room food. Desserts were delicious....We enjoyed breakfast and lunch in Rosie's....a few cold pancakes.......the cheeseburgers were good...I never tried the pizza but my 13 year old ate enough for several people......LOL........Chocolate Buffet at Rosie's....to die for....

Entertainment......I went to the Welcome Show, the 2 Vegas shows (Excellent) and the Valor Idol.........A couple in our group won the free cruise raffle. Josh the CD was OK...after experiencing John Heald on the Triumph 2 years ago.....no one will compare with him. I went to every show on the Triumph because you just couldn't; miss the antics of John Heald. Josh was not an entertainer...but he did his job of keeping you informed. The Eagles Lounge had a wonderful band...Music Society.....and the lounge is smoke free...woo hoo. The casino was very good to me and some others in our party....Wheel of Fortune Slots........We did the Carnival Vacation Club talk...just wasn't; for me....I would of had to pay more for the cruise I wanted to go on and my sons and I are not into land based vacations....For some it is a good deal.

PORTS OF CALL... Belize......We did a cave tubing independent tour with Coral Breeze....UNBELIZEABLE...see my review on the Ports of Call board.....It sure beats Carnivals free for all tour of over 400 people compared to 13 of us with a guide going down the river in a train...and it is a lot cheaper.......

Roatan......Independent Tour again...Horseback Riding ending at Fosters West Bay....see my review on Ports of Call.....It was awesome and Fosters is beautiful.

Grand Cayman.....took a cab to the beach.......Royal Palms...we never got out of the water until it was time to leave...it was sooo hot....

Cozumel.....did some shopping on the Pier then....took a cab to Paradise Beach........we enjoyed it but be careful of the rocks in the water....my sons loved the trampoline.......we paid $8 for the wristbands for the boys.....they went on the trampoline and grandma and I got the mats.......LOL...After dinner a bunch of us from the group went back out on the pier for some cocktails and party music at Fat Tuesdays...Woooo Hooooo.

Sea Days.....I was usually up on deck by 9:30...no problem getting a deck chair....enjoyed Deck 10 starboard side with a nice breeze...We did the slide several times.....

Major Complaint............Kids out of control........Disrespectful...that is all I can say......They can; read or abide by the signs...as in NO JUMPING IN THE POOLS........The pools are small and all you can do is get in to cool off but they think it is for jumping and lap races.......The adult only hot tubs...The one day I got to go and enjoy them ( or at least try to) 3 girls about 12 years old came into the hot tub (adult only) eating ice cream comes. my Dad asked them to leave and they didn't;......so into the other tub we went. I think they need more pool police..........

Debarkation.....we went down to the lobby at 9AM....Dad got a wheelchair...we walked off with them but we had to go thru immigration with everyone else (Mom and Dad didn't;) so they waited in the luggage terminal for us. We got our luggage and got on the Carnival transfer bus...no hassles...We had a good flight home.

It was an excellent vacation......
