This was our first cruise with the Princess Line. Our inside cabin was one of several larger than normal size that were available. We had more room inside our cabin than our friends across the hall who had a balcony. We had extra closets and a bit more room to walk in. We were very pleased with the space.
We sailed with a group of 10. We had selected Personal Choice Dining. I placed a call immediately after boarding the ship to book our meals. We were only allowed to choose that first night and the following. I was instructed to call back on Monday at 7am to make the rest of the reservations. I called at 9am on Monday and was only able to book 2 of the restaurants because tables for 10 were not available at times we needed...taking into consideration our excursions. I was told there are only 2 tables for 10 in each dining room which I found hard to believe on a ship of this size. I wish that the booking agent would have mentioned that traditional dining would have been a better choice for my size group. We found that the Savoy Dining Room had a great staff and we were lucky because we had dinner there 3 of the nights! Our waiter Mariusz was wonderful. We also chose to dine in the Sterling Steakhouse one night because there was no table for 10 available elsewhere. The choice was a good one. We all enjoyed the delicious meal. The steaks were perfect.
The selection of excursions on this voyage was extensive. We all agreed that Juneau,Skagway, and Ketchikan were beautiful places to visit. Our tour guides were young and energetic and able to answer the myriads of questions from the travellers. Our only complaint was that the time was too short to enjoy all that Alaska has to offer. We particularly liked the train ride! It was a relaxing way to see the country. We were unable to dock in Victoria due to high winds and rough seas. But it was a pretty view from where we sat awaiting the captain's decision whether or not it was safe to go into port.
