My husband and I cruised the final W. Caribbean with the Star Princess before its transatlantic to the Baltic. First time on a Grand Class. Was quite happy as we worried about how large the ship would be. We carried walkie-talkies, which helped some of the time; so many others were carrying that many times we were all on the same frequency. Although the ship that week had a lot more children than we've been used to seeing (apparently week of passover and so a lot of NY families with lovely children). Actually the way the ship was laid out, it was fairly easy to avoid the kiddies!

We splurged on a mini-suite and if anyone is considering, we'd highly recommend. The additional seating area and larger bath made our cruise so much more enjoyable. We entertained our friends travelling with us on several evenings having wine and cheese in the cabin before dinner. Since one can bring wine on board this was a nightly event. Plenty of space to stand around, sit and relax. It was also pleasant having the larger balcony (and unlike other reviewers, we didn't find garbage on our balcony from the higher decks). Although the balcony is not as private with no "ceiling" having the sitting area meant we didn't sit on the balcony quite as much.

Because we weren't seated at a table with our friends, we ended up in one of the personal choice dining rooms. The Maitre D' made sure we had the same table each night, same time! I was somewhat apprehensive wondering if the service would be the same level as in the main dining room and we found it to be superb. Our waiter, asst. waiter, head waiter, and Maitre D' all seemed extremely happy every evening to greet and wait on the six of us night after night. In fact, Attila, Marius and Fillipo probably took better care of us than on ANY prior cruise (including prior Princess and Celebrity, which in my opinion generally outshines all others!) We got special hors d'oeuvres, cheese trays, desserts almost every night so Fillipo could show off his culinary skills.
