just off Serenade of the Seas after 7 nights in the Middle East.
Overall a very enjoyable experience. Spent 2 nights pre cruise in Dubai, and wished we had longer as so much to see and do. stayed in Traders Hotel which was okay for 2 nights but a bit out of town.Had booked a wonderful desert safari on line before we left with Platinum Heritage tours which was excellent.
serenade has recently undergone a refurb and was spotless. stateroom was fine, good shower but would have preferred a higher deck.
only ate in Windjammer on the first day for lunch and was disappointed. food lukewarm and so busy.Had breakfast and lunch in Park cafe which was much quieter, great breakfast muffins and nice lunchtime sandwiches and salads.
we had dinner second sitting in main dining room, very good service and reasonable choice of food.I agree with a previous reviewer who commented on dress code, on formal nights we saw people casually dressed in main dining room.
Chefs Table was More
an amazing experience. we also ate in Chops, fantastic food and service. The Japanese inspired restaurant was also very good.
hated the large screen by the pool, who wants to watch BBC news as you try and relax, also felt the feature films on it were distracting.
we pre paid tips but were also left envelopes in our stateroom for extra tips and felt that waiters etc were looking for these on the last night which is a bit off when we have already paid in advance. Less
Dubai was amazing, so much to see and do and too little time.we booked our own trips which worked out cheaper than doing them through RCI. Desert safari, trip top of Burj Kalifa, afternoon tea at Burj al Arab, yellow boat tour and sea plane trip.
Enjoyed muscat but feel 2 days here was too much. Booked a tour in advance with Mark Tours, driver waiting on us at pier. excellent service, saw a lot in 4 hours. Went first to the Grand Mosque. Ladies ensure you are covered to wrists and ankles and have a headscarf.
