First time leaving from NYC and hoping it would diminish some anxiety to check in? However, although we arrived at 10:30 AM; more than enough time, there wasn't NCL personnel to guide us to the correct check in line. It took more than 2-1/2 hrs to our cabin. When we opened the door, we fell into the bed; this cabin was designed as a handicapped cabin???? The room didn't have sufficient lighting; not enough space to navigate safely, the cabin door slams shut too soon (dangerous). The elevator does not stop on the 6th floor dinning room; had to get off and take the next bank of elevators....there were many slopping hallways making it difficult to navigate with a wheelchair.
The disembarkation was a total chaotic mess; we were assured the night before that it would go smoothly??? Had to wait 1-1/2 hr. for a person to guide us to the correct floor and even then we waited on the 4th floor for more than 1 hr. before Security would let us through. Everyone was chasing porters to assist them.
On a positive note, it was a very lively week with lots of young children and their parents....the shows were surprisingly very good and the dining room personnel were very helpful. I would not rely on the advice of a travel agent who assured us that this cabin was designated as "handicapped". It wasn't.
