We booked this cruise to celebrate our 20th anniversary with great expectations of a week in paradise. What we ended up with is a worn out suite with tattered drapes, tattered deck furniture, and a hot tub that was filthy and stuck in the corner of a very narrow balcony that would require the skills of a contortionist to enter and exit. There were burned out lights in the suite that went unchanged for the duration of the cruise. A nice touch for the suite was an espresso machine. Unfortunately, there were no directions for its use. The spaciousness and layout of the suite was great but the condition not so much. The food was unexceptional in the upcharge restaurants and the service was equally mediocre. There was a problem getting meal courses timed correctly and no attention to detail or service from the wait staff. The food in the main dining rooms was equally lackluster. The menu selections were not that great and on more than one occasion the food temperature and wait time was indicative that our orders had been sitting for an extended period of time. A bright spot in the week was the private dining afforded us (suite guests)for breakfast and lunch in one of the restaurants. The food was well-prepared and the wait staff was mostly attentive and effecient. The shore excursions that we chose we also well done with the exception of the one we chose for our first day in Maui. The Road to Hana was long, repetitive and uncomfortable due to the terrible condition of the ill-named Hana Highway. I now know where the phrase "30 miles of bad road" had its inception. Hopefully, after Pride of America's upcoming refurbishing in March, it will be a better venue and less of a disappointment. On a scale of 1-5 we would have to give our experience a 2-2.5. I don't think we'll be cruising with NCL in the future.

Cabin review: Owner's Suite with Large Balcony

Port and Shore Excursions

Mauna Kea
Awesome views from the top of the mountain. Being 2.5 miles above sea level and not in an airplane is pretty cool.
Port
Very entertaining. Our driver also played the ukulele for us.

Port
Both the land and sea tours were informative and we got to see some whales while on the sea portion of the tour.

Iao Valley
The Iao valley is beautiful and the Maui Ocean Center was pretty cool.
Road to Hana
Some beautiful sights but too much bad road. Very uncomfortable ride for a good portion of the day.
