Ship Facts: Celebrity Silhouette Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Celebrity Silhouette Deck Plans
A Buffet and Burger Boat
The Silhouette is certainly very nice in appearance, design and comfort. But once you settle in and start going deeper into services provided, staffing, entertainment, be prepared for a new disappointment almost every day ..especially if you have previously experienced Celebrity as marvellous as it was just a couple of years back.

The cabins are quite attractive, but very short of drawer storage space: above the bed cupboards just isn't as convenient as the number of drawers most other ships offer.

But that's nothing compared to the let down in dining options. On our seven-day cruise the dining room was only open for a sit-down served lunch only ONCE, just the first sea day. You may have paid $2,000/cabin for a week on a luxury resort style vacation but you'd better be prepared to enjoy buffets and burger grills! Unless you're prepared to shell out even more for Premium restaurants.

And if you can't be IN the dining room for your sit-down breakfast BY 9 a.m., they CLOSE the doors ... again, off to the buffet with you. Other ships serve till 9:30 a.m. but No lollygagging in your Silhouette cabin till even 9:05 a.m. if you want to be served in the dining room.

The food quality in the dining room each evening, we thought, was quite good, but many other passengers disagreed. Many told us they were not impressed or were downright unhappy.

And that brought us to the service food staff...mostly a dour, unsmiling group of East Europeans .. who even on Day 6 still greet you like they've never met you before ...and couldn't care less if they never see you again. LOL! Give me the genuinely happy, friendly food service staffs from the Phillipines, Barbados, Jamaica, Indonesia anytime!

And don't expect the evening Entertainment to cheer you up to much either. First time cruisers could enjoy the usual "Broadway" fare ... lots of music and twirling and kicking about. But seasoned sailors will no doubt note the bland, cheap set (looks like they spent $100 on a staircase with coloured lights underneath. And the dancers were ...well, very experienced ...in age.

The magician was so slow, I can't say much about his entire act..I nodded off after 20 minutes.

The BEST expereince on the ship: the enhancement lectures by ships Officers an how the ship navigates, runs, etc. Terrific!

However, Celebrity has slipped, based on the Silhouette. Not willing to pay "extra" for quality, I found myself LONGING for Norwegian dining and even Carnival.

NEVER thought I'd say that about Celebrity!
