We were scheduled on the Norwegian Jewel Jan 20th to Feb 1st out of NYC. Because of winter weather, we decided to spend the weekend in the city, and not worry about the potential problem. We had a car service take us from New Jersey, on Friday, to the city, and then a car service to ship on Sunday, around 12:30pm. We were in an owners suite so getting on the ship was quick. We were escorted to Cagney's for lunch, and by the time we were done we went to the suite.

We were in suite 9004 (Haven) at the front of the ship. This was the second and last time we would take a suite or room at the front of the ship. Too much sea movement felt along with wasted areas. That said, it is a beautiful suite with a lot of room. Side balcony could be bigger. A very large bathroom and a guest washroom make it convenient. It is totally quiet and dark at night. The bed, king size, is very comfortable. There is a dining area, a living room and bar area. Plenty of storage and closet More space. Three flat screen TV's.

We used Cagney's for breakfast and some lunches. We used the haven courtyard for many of our lunches. Dinner we only used the specialty restaurants. They were better than average and well worth the additional money required. We liked the variety of choices in cuisines. We have traveled on so many ships and have been to the islands multiple times that we now look to the ship to be our resort and want to make the ship as comfortable for us as possible. We shop at the various stops. We know which merchants carry what we are looking for.

The shows were fine. Some better than others. I was happy just to have an indoor lounge and an outdoor area to smoke a cigar and relax with a drink.

The staff were really and truly trying to please. They were fine people and a pleasure. Our suite was clean always. The butler made everything easy. Our concierge, John, was unbelievable. He anticipated all our needs. I have had suites before, but the level of professionalism by our team was great. The butler in the haven was terrific. He made our time there well worth it. We liked this cruise so much, we have signed up for a fall cruise on Norwegian. Less

Again went shopping. Had great lobster salads in town on the water.

Fair golf course. Shopping is okay around the ship. Most of the island is enclosed resorts.

I have played golf at Sandy Lane, so since it was Sunday and most everything was closed we went to the clubhouse and then to the high end stores to shop.

We arrived late in the afternoon, so we taxied to the Plaza de Americas. It's a large indoor shopping center. Has many of the better stores. Taxied back to Old San Juan. Many times I will golf on the island. Since we will be back in 2 1/2 months, no golf..

Wasn't for us. I know they have great resorts, but not in that area.

We took a water taxi to St John Island. Great Tommy Bahama shop there. Took a water taxi back and went into town to shop. There is a men shop near the cruise. Great items.
