"Worst cruise ever" was what we would say when we were having a great time on the ship. After reading so many reviews of complaints and whining we decided to make fun of those people.
Stayed downtown New Orleans the day before the cruise at the Omni Royal. It was great. There were 16 of us out on Bourbon Street the night before the cruise and had a great time. I would recommend the dueling piano bar.
Embarkation was great. Arrived at the port about 11:30 and was on the ship by 12:00 even though there was a long line it went quickly.
Our room was 7434. This room has a double wide balcony. The room is a little smaller and does not have a couch but the wider balcony was a plus for have people over. We did not hear any noise from the stairway next to us.
The ship was in great condition. Very clean and organized.
We bought our cheers program as soon as we got on board at the Lobby Bar. Of the 20 of us on the trip at least 14 of us got the package. It was explained very clearly to us that is was a 15 alcoholic drink maximum and non alcoholic drinks were not included in this number. This worked out very well for our group and we all considered it a challenge to hit the number. The bartenders could tell us what drink we were on at any time. Hit the 15 3 of the 7 nights. We had no problems getting unopened beers to take back to the cabin to have for the balcony.
The ship left port at 5pm. We did not know that we would be sailing the river for about 5 hours. This was great.
Food in the main dining room was an 8 on a scale of 10. Everything was good but little was fantastic. We ate in the main dining room 6 of the 7 nights. We did not go to the steak house but heard great things from those that did.
Spent most of our time at 4 bars. Lobby bar, Casino, EA sports bar and the Blues bar. All great bartenders but service was a little slow in the Blues bar. The Blues bar is a piano bar and Mike the Piano player was great. AAron and Vasyl at the EA Sports bar were also great.
Our group won 3 trophies for Trivia and had a great time with the games.
We went to the beach and Mahogany Bay. Just a short walk. Sat in the shade, drank some buckets of beer and played volleyball. Very relaxing.
In Belize most of the group stayed on ship. Some of us took a tender in and just did the peer shopping. This was fine. There was even a flyer the ship put out explaining the problems in Belize.
Our group went to Mr. Sancho's in Cozumel. This was our 2nd time hear and it was great. 12 of us were took at van at $10 each for the round trip. Our driver stayed there and waited for us. Food and service was great. The water park was fun. I would recommend Mr. Sanchos.
This was my 7th cruise and the 2nd with Carnival. The only complaint that I had was that the Pizza place on the Lido deck didn't have pizza ready at 1am when we went up to the bar. "Worst cruise ever".
I know some people may have legitimate complaints but most just like to complain. 1 person with our group did not have robes in their room. I told her to just tell your room steward and they will gladly get them. On the 3rd night she complained again. I asked if she asked her room steward. She said no. I asked her if she just wanted to complain about not having a robe or did she actually want a robe.
The staff everywhere was very friendly and helpful. I would have no problem at all sailing with Carnival again. I would however not pick Roatan or Belize for ports of call.
Disembarkation was smooth. We were off the ship by 10am.
