Amazing Vacation - 1st time on Celebrity

Sail Date: January 2013
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: San Juan

We left the Hotel Verdanza, San Juan at 10:30 a.m. and had no trouble boarding. We were Concierge class and we were on board in 25 minutes. Even our friends who were not concierge class got on in the same amount of time. This was terrific. Within the hour we were sitting in the buffet having lunch

We went up to the Ocean View buffet for a terrific lunch and of course the view was spectacular. The buffet wasn't fully open as it was 11:30 am but whatever was opened was enough for us to have a great lunch.

We then went to our stateroom at 1:30 and met our Stewards. Our room wasn't quite ready for us and he said that it would be done later in the day. What I don't understand is how a regular balcony stateroom can be ready before our Concierge Class room! We had to ask for the shampoo products etc. Rooms were smaller than RCL and not so comfortable.

We hardly ever saw the stewards, and when we did they were very friendly, but they did clean up and eventually More the next day we got our rose (flowers), champagne, fruit and tiny canapes. The robes were terrific and I used them every single day. We were in a balcony which had an obstructed view. We were on deck 7-aft (not port side) and when you looked out from your balcony we saw this long awning, so you didn't get to see the water. I still loved standing out there and just gazing out on the water. We missed seeing the boat come in, in the morning and leave in the evening because of where our cabin was situated, but still saw some great sights from the balcony.

We then explored the ship and it was beautiful and we were very excited to start our journey. What we enjoyed was that we did not have to walk through smoke filled rooms when you went through the Casino.

We enjoyed our breakfasts, and late afternoon snacks in the Buffet and there was lots of variety and lots of choices It was delightful to come back from our excursions and have a cool drink and a snack and relax till we had to go and get ready for dinner or whatever we were doing.

We had dinner on Level 4 in the main dining room every night, which was the most terrific experience. The food was amazing, even the steak, our waitress Verencia and assistant Rahon were fantastic and they brought everything we had requested on the 1st day, every day. We never had to ask. We had some dietary restrictions and they never forgot. We couldn't have asked for better service. A truly great experience!

The entertainment was also 1st class. The cruise director, Lisa Robert was amazing and had a voice to boot. She reminded me of a blond Lisa Minnelli. She kept us entertained as well as the execution of the terrific shows. Each one better than the next.

The ports were terrific and saw some lovely sights, even though it rained on some days, we were still able to see the sights, go to the beaches etc. We didn't use the ship's excursions as we were a very large group and our group leader arranged our excursions for her group. I loved getting the cold hand towels and drinks when we returned to the ship.

It was great that you were able to go to the buffet later in the evening and grab a snack and meet some of your friends. The pool area was very spacious although people did save seats so sometimes we had a hard time getting chairs.

So all in all a terrific cruise, with terrific people and I would definitely travel Celebrity again. Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Summit Concierge Class Penthouse Deck (6) 7184

Cabin 7184 - large bathroom, but room small even though it was a Concierge. Balcony obstructed by awning. Aft cabin and very long walk to get anywhere. Across from Crew space so sometimes noisy. Can't access storage at top of closet - life jackets etc stored there. Beds a bit too low and couldn't get suitcases under them.
