great ship great staff

Sail Date: January 2013
Destination: Hawaii
Embarkation: Los Angeles

1st Princess and so much fun. They have 2 ships from LA to Hawaii and we chose this one due to it being themed Hawaiian and it was the right choice. The layout is fairly simple...Deck 14 has the buffets and several pools.
Late night dancing till 2 am is on deck 17...most lounges are on deck 7 as well as the theater. The piazza runs deck 5 to 7 and is just outside the restaurants on deck 5 and 6 as well as some lounges and the 24 hour eatery.
We chose anytime dining in the Bernini and has a great head waiter Tomasz.
We also had Catauna as our waitress several nights. She is the most attentive and witty waitress we have ever had. Ask for her and I'm sure you'll be back and want her to be your waitress every night. She would give you recommendations and was on target every time. When we ran into her at other times or at the buffet she always said hello. She's the best.
Entertainment at both the Princess Theater and Vista Lounge was always enjoyable and More usually offered 2 or 3 times each evening. In the Piazza there are several mini shows many created by those on board. We took part in the Great Egg Drop and had loads of fun. They also have some shot dance reviews and music. A great little hangout.
The Cruise directors Dave and Marahscalh broadcast a daily show from 7-noon each about 30 minutes explaining the days activities. Their associates Drake, Matt are seen everywhere and involved in most everything. By the end of the cruise you will think they are family. They are great. There are another 3 who are also involved as well. They have dance lessons and the make it fun. They make exercise a pleasure.
Also on board are Dave and Leialoha who really know Hawaii. They teach and perform Hawaiian music and dance as well as lei making, hula dance, ukulele instruction and anything you can think of relating to Hawaii and it's culture.
They also have the casino, bingo and art auctions but there is no pressure to attend or spend money on them.

As far as cabin service, We had a cabin 229 on the Lido deck and Jenah our stateroom stewardess was tops. Anything we needed she got us and kept it so clean and stocked. She filled the ice daily, got us robes, and simply went the extra yard to please us. If I could book a stateroom by stewardess I'd would request her regardless of location.

It's a great cruise on a beautiful ship with a staff that really knows how to take care of their guests. There may have been a few rough days at sea and a few cold ones but Princess has no control over mother nature, so we can't hold that against them.

They even had a Jewish, Christian (non-denominational), and Catholic service performed by passengers on board. I only wish they would employ the clergy or offer an incentive to have this a regular feature. All in all it's a great cruise. I do not recommend it for children as their were only a few as it was mostly a 55+ group but many were truly young at heart dancing the night away at one of several locations.
You can kick back and relax or run, run, run it's your choice. Princess is tops in my book. Less

Cabin review: Golden Princess l229

l 229 great cabin steward. not too much noise. not a bad ride even in rough seas. nice layout. The only negative is a tight shower very cozy if you want to shower with your partner- but I think that's the norm for all the basic inside cabins'.
