Ship Facts: Freedom of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Freedom of the Seas Deck Plans
Freedom of the Seas - not overly impressed
This was our 10+ cruise. We've lost track of a few. We were leaving out of Port Canaveral the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Covered parking is nice and safe there. About $120 for 7 day cruise.

We were really excited to be going on Freedom for the first time since it gets such great ratings. I wouldn't say we have expectations any higher than other traveled cruisers.

First off, we had to wait out in the sun because they weren't letting anyone on the ship until 1:30 for some reason. Thankfully at one point an employee thought to check everyone's status and moved those of us with priority boarding up in line.

Once on board, the first thing we noticed was the Windjammer layout was terrible. Seems everyone was always bumping into each other. The main complaint was trying to find somewhere to sit. This was an issue with breakfast and lunch every single day. Staff didn't seem to be in a hurry to wipe down tables for the next guest. Another big issues with this area is the elevators. Everyone seems to gather in front of them either getting on or off while looking around not knowing where to go. I've never seen this problem on other ships, say Celebrity for example.

There weren't any TV's in the bars like Schooner. There have been on other RC ships. Since it was a big weekend for college football, we were hoping to catch games. The only place you could do so was on the pool deck's large screen only showing one game at a time.

Food was much better than we've had on other RC ships. Was very impressed with the breakfast selection at Windjammer. We also appreciated that the drinks were already poured and sitting out to grab instead of standing in line getting ice, then drink, etc.

Our cabin was great. First time being total Aft. The room number was 9404. Great corner balcony without obstructions. At first I was worried about there only being a circle window and single door but turned out there was plenty of light. Only negative (if there was one) is the sun can be intense all most of the time back there.

As far as the itinerary, we always like Western even though we've been to many of the ports several times. Haiti was beautiful! It was nice seeing an improved port in Falmouth Jamaica.

Overall, for the price and rating, we expected a little more wow factor. For the same price or a tad more, Allure/Oasis seems like a better value.
