Sail Date: Jul 2012

My wife and I took our first cruise on Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas in 1997 to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The ship struck as huge, beautiful, and we had a terrific time. We never thought we would have to wait fifteen years to take our second cruise but the wait was well worth it. In July 2012 we took another anniversary cruise with Royal Caribbean, this time on the Oasis of the Seas.

WOW... what a ship! The Oasis of the Seas is a really wonderful experience with so much to do and see. We were on deck nine in stateroom 9274 (type D7) which had a balcony overlooking the ocean and located close to the elevators. The room was spacious with lots of storage room. We had four large suitcases with us and all of our clothes fit into the closet easily with the smaller items going into the drawers under the vanity area. The empty suitcases fit under the bed. There was a large flat screen TV and a small refrigerator in the vanity area also. A comfortable couch in the room gave us a nice place to just sit and watch the TV that kept us up to date on events happening on the ship as well as the morning show where the Cruise Director and Activities Manager read items submitted by passengers on the ship... I got to say Happy Anniversary to my wife on the show with one of my notes I submitted.

The Boardwalk with it delightful carousel was beautiful. There was a real boardwalk feel to this area of the ship. The Donut Shop was there offering iced donuts which I enjoyed although I would have liked a hot glazed one better. Several shops and a diner are also "on the boardwalk"... a great place for families with children to enjoy some family time. Of course, there are several pools up on on the pool deck that also offer all kinds of fun. There is a large kiddie pool with lots of colorful sprays and sprinklers for the kids to enjoy and several hot whirlpools for the adults to just sit and relax and enjoy a nice drink if you want to.

Cabin Review

Stateroom 9274, a type D7, was a wonderful ocean side stateroom with a balcony. The room was spacious with lots of storage in the closet area which also had a safe for any valuables while we were on-board. You even get to set your own combination code for the safe. The bed was very comfortable with a telephone and clock combination on one side. The vanity area in the room contained several drawers and shelves for our smaller items and there was a very nice small refrigerator. A large screen TV is mounted to the wall about the vanity area with a nice couch across the room which gave us a nice place to just sit and watch the morning show where the Cruise Director and the Activities Manager told you what was happening on the ship and in port that day. They also invited and read notes submitted by passengers on the ship. The bathroom is your typical small bathroom you would expect on a ship but was large enough to not feel cramped when getting ready or bushing your teeth and the like. The shower included liquid body soap and shampoo. Stateroom 9274 is very close to the elevators (Six on each side of the ship both forward and aft!!) which made it convenient to getting everywhere on the ship.
