We just got home from our Jan 24 cruise to the Bahamas. It was our first cruise and I was pretty nervous after reading some of the reviews. The trip was one of the smoothest vacations we've ever taken! Boarding the ship was very simple. We arrived via Park and Cruise shuttle (great money and time saver) at 1130 and breezed right through the entire process. By noon we were sitting at Panorama eating lunch and in our cabin and unpacked by 2.
Cabin - Our cabin was cozy, clean and although pretty chilly, it was perfect for the two of us. Our steward, Yogi, and Carnival staff were attentive and friendly. They kept our room in great condition. It was a little loud as we neared ports, but overall very peaceful.
Food
The buffet food was excellent throughout the trip. The staff did a great job of keeping
tables clean and lines moving. The main dining room was pretty good. Our food could've been a little warmer, but was by no means cold. The only disappointing item on the menu was the Sushi. We love Sushi and found this a little blah. The shrimp was excellent and the crab cake appetizer was my favorite treat onboard.
Entertainment
We enjoyed the shows. I've read some bad reviews, but honestly, its not Broadway. Our expectations were actually exceeded. I've been to a lot of theme park shows and found Carnival's to be about the same or a little better.
The casino was kind of a low point for us. We enjoy poker, but seldom saw anyone playing.
Slots were readily available.
Overall
It was a fun trip. We are looking forward to taking the kids next time. We found that
this cruise, like any other vacation, was as fun as we wanted to make it.
