My wife and I picked this particular cruise a, the price was right and b, a chance to grab some winter sunshine.
The embarkation, including the easyjet flight from UK and arrival at airport, transfer to the port booking at the port (the cruise terminal is a large dome), was fairly painless as long as you "went with the flow" and realised that all the staff were doing their best to help, although it didn't seem like that sometimes.
Getting off the ship and back to the flight terminal in Rome was quick and easy.
On the ship.. We have decided that Freedom dining is not for us, we prefer the more structured style. The main restaurants and buffet served a set menu on one page for the whole of the cruise and another page with daily changes. The food on the whole was good but not excellent. We tried the Jasmine garden and the Chinese selection was however excellent.
The other parts of the ship were well presented, always clean and tidy and never seemed to be too crowded although the ship was full.
Our biggest complaint on board was that everything but everything was extra, although not massively expensive (including the tours)it makes you wonder why the company does not increase the initial cost of the cruise and provide more things as complimentary.
The ports selected by Norwegian were all pleasant and if you were not inclined to pay for the tours then you could easily walk off and explore the dockside areas and a shuttle was provided where the promenades were a bit too far. It must be said though the Naples appeared to be very "tired" and appeared to be covered in graffiti.
On the whole it was a pleasant 11 days away from the UK gloomy days.
