Ship Facts: Monarch of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Monarch of the Seas Deck Plans
It was a nice cruise, but not the best vacation of all times
My Husband and I booked this 4 day Cruise to the Bahamas on Royal Caribbean because we had never been on Royal before. We went on Carnival on our last cruise and everyone kept saying that Royal was so much nicer. Maybe because this was a older and smaller ship than other Royal ships and I didn't have any other to compare to that I have to disagree with that. It was a nice clean ship. The food was good most of the time. Breakfast was great! We went to the formal dining room the first two nights, but the rest of the time we just ate at the buffet. The buffet had more selections to choose from and it didn't take over an hour to eat dinner. We had a interior room and it was soooo small & the bed was hard. I had read other reviews that said the rooms were small and they were right. Our toilet kept backing up and wouldn't flush. At one point our toilet overflowed. Thankfully there was a drain that kept the water from getting on the carpet. We called maintenance like 4 or 5 times about it and every time they would come and get it working, but it was only temporary. One thing that I liked about Carnival was that every night you would go into your room and they would always have a towel animal waiting on you. There was only 2 nights that I had a towel animal in my room on Royal. Most of the entertainment was good. The Love & Marriage game show was hilarious! Mark the Cruise Director was funny! I really liked him. They had two bands that played and only one of them was good.

We went to Coco Cay, Royal's private island, and it was really pretty and nice.I was glad the weather wasn't bad that morning, because I heard if the seas was too rough they wont let you go to the island, because they have to tender you in a boat to the island. I understand, because by the end of the day there were thunderstorms all around and the seas got pretty rough. They did make everyone get back on the ship a few hours early. We mainly walked around the whole island exploring and collecting sea shells. The free buffet they have was not good at all. Don't know what happened there, but nothing tasted good.

The next day we went to the Nassau. We walked around downtown and went in a few shops. We took a excursion on the glass bottom boat. RIP OFF!! don't waste your money. It about 1 1/2 hrs excursion and maybe 10/15 minutes of it you actually get to see fish. They rest of the time your just taking a boat ride. We did take a taxi to Atlantis. We just walked around and explored what they would let us explore. The taxi ride to and from Atlantis was crazy. They don't have stop signs or yield signs and they drive on the opposite side of the road. At one point I thought we were going to get ran over. Over-all the Cruise was nice, but I still think that Carnival was more fun as far as the ship experience goes.
