We are in our sixties and have cruised many times on various cruise lines. We chose Carnival for the convenience of sailing out of NY. We took metro north train from Ct. to Grand Central and then a taxi to the ship. We arrived at the port around noon and it took about half an hour before we were on board.
Cabin- We booked an ocean view room as we didn't think we would use the balcony much since we were cruising in January and we liked the price. We were somewhat concerned as the cabin was on Deck 1 and we had never been on a lower deck. It turned out great. The 2 decks above us had dinning, bars, casino etc. It also was convenient and very stable. The room was spacious and the cabin steward was excellent, always having our room made up early.
Food-We did any time dining and never had to wait long for a table. The food in the main dining room was good and excellent in the steak house. The choices were varied, some better than others but that could just been personal taste. Service was excellent. Negative -The dining room was over the top and the ugliest we have ever seen.
