Ship Facts: Carnival Triumph Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Triumph Deck Plans
Awesome!...a rookie cruiser's perspective...
i booked our cruise very early....and learned about the fare changes when i called to change cabins and found out i owed money...if you don't have the lowest price guarantee then you need to stay vigilant to fare changes and upgrade opportunities...it looks like now that i have cruised once the lines are telling me they will make sure i get lowest fare and automatic upgrades...

Anyway, we went down to the ship about 10 o'clock on Monday.;...too early...ended up sitting with the VIP's while we waited for debarkation to complete...they have water and lemonade on hand ...don't get caught taking pictures in the waiting area...

We bought FTTF (faster to the fun) and it was well worth it...we were able to drop our carry-ons directly in our cabin BEFORE we went down to lunch and a look around the ship...

after the ship got underway we went to the sports bar and met some other folks from Cruise Critic...what a nice friendly bunch...i am still trying to figure out how to find them now that the cruise is over...

we had moderate seas (6-9) and so we felt some motion through the night...nothing bad in our opinion but i bet it made some people uncomfortable...we had a nice balcony and could sit out but first night early was cold...

by morning we were well into the Gulf and had sailed south of the cool weather...things got nicer from there

Progreso on Wednesday morning was fun...this town got torn up very badly in a hurricane some years back and it is not a place with lots of money anyway so it looks a bit like a poor port...

the square is great for people watching but if you need a modern city catch a ride to Merida...everything is there and a Walmart too...

we did the Dzibilchaltun ruins tour with a side trip to Merida...take water...wear good walking shoes...the ruins are impressive...we bought our tour on the dock after we arrived...($89 on board and $39 on the dock-Same bus company) our tour guide Ivan was knowledgeable, passionate about his people's heritage and culture and he had a wonderful sense of humor....he makes these tours lots of fun...

back on the ship for an overnight to Cozumel...officially into the Caribbean Sea and the water is much clearer...Try Senor Frogs in Cozumel...great Rita's...awesome nachos...

in the end i felt that the true attraction was the ship since we spent only 7 hours in each port and the rest of our time we were underway...and the ship is awesome...the casino is fun but tight...the shows are just fun...karaoke is a blast and the formal dinners are wonderful...we felt so pampered...be nice to your servers and your cabin steward and they will be even nicer than they already are, to you...

a smooth day and a half sail home and we got priority debarkation with our fast to the fun deal....off and on the highway by 10 a.m.

pack as light as you can....drinks cost a bit...i would not advocate trying to smuggle booze onboard but i know people who do it every cruise...

the shopping show that is highly touted is really only going to appeal to you if you are going south to buy diamonds or major jewelry...

the Cuban cigars that are offered everywhere are probably not...

check out habanas in Cozumel or cigar bobs...

in my humble opinion Carnival offers a great value and i for one cannot wait to go again...
