After taking more than 14 cruises in different lines including Carnival, NCL, RCL, PRINCESS, DISNEY, CELEBRITY. I decided to just go to a weekend cruise since the kids and wife love cruising. I took my chances and went by the review in the cruise critic website which in my opinion is flawed. The ship is old, looks old and the refurbishment didn't do much for the Imagination, everything looks 70's style and every crevice you look at is dirty, disconnected, broken and even some elevators are missing all the ceiling lighs. We cruisers know how hard the employees of the cruise lines work, but in the Imagination everyone looked so tired to the point of you feeling the vibe by the way they walk, talk and even how they dress. The majority was in cruise purgatory hanging by a thread.

The food was so bland and so bad I barely ate it, the preparation areas were dirty and the sandwich maker they use for the sandwiches was stained. The pizza was horrible, then the reviewer said pizza is great, even Domino's is better and that's a run of the mill national pizza chain. Some people might say, well is a ship built in 1995, and you can't compare it to the newer ships, well somethings are better demolished, scrapped and gone rather than to stand and offer a very mediocre product. I disagree with the marketing they use in the cruise critic website this ship is for first timers!! honeymooners and a budget cruise, the last statement is accurate, budget is the word in every sense of the word and most of the time being cheap is not worth it. This wasn't our crowd, lots of people that don't really know how to behave in public, there were people doing very nasty things in public in front of our children. Do you want to stand in long lines for everything like cattle as if there isn't enough food. The only positive thing was the molten chocolate cake, is was awesome every time. If it is your first time taking a cruise, take a longer one, pay a little more, select a newer ship and you will end up very happy, if you take the Carnival Imagination you will be disappointed and perhaps won't give cruising a second chance and you will be missing out a great experience.
