We boarded the Radiance of the Seas on the 30th December for a 10 day cruise around the South Pacific. We were informed that the weather was bad in New Caledonia so we would not be sailing to the Isle of Pines or Noumea.....The ship stayed in
Sydney Harbour for 2 days then sailed on the 1st January, so the first 5 days were at sea.....We loved the cabin, the service and the food in all the restaurants was amazing...
The activites were either mindless or badly organised or overcrowded. It was like a floating RSL/holiday camp...bingo and gambling or moronic childish games organised by condescending staff who treated us like sheep. The pool was overcrowded, where guests left their towels on the sunbeds all day...reminded me of Benidorm .....or the travel agent sketch by Monty Python!
I would love to have enjoyed the beauty salon but found the prices ridiculous, twice the price and the staff must be on commission as they sold lotions and potions to everyone who made an appointment.
I gave up on using the internet as this was so overpriced...the families with young kids on facebook must have had a nightmare.... In hindsight maybe Xmas holidays is not the best time to cruise, the fact that the 3 on shore visits were not fantastic.....Vila Vanuatu for example......dreadful, humid and dirty & not enough time to hire a car etc, in fact information was limited on excursions.....
Thank God for the Theatre Shows and the great Dining......
