Have been DYING to go on Oasis since it was first announced. The ship is beautiful, loved the Central Park, a younger crowd with a lot to do. The food was lousy. I am not a picky eater and by far the worst cruise food wise. They give you half a strip steak...are you serious? The buffet was very average, deserts disappointing. Pastry Chef 101: it is mortal sin to turn cookie dough into hockey puck. The service, esp in dining room, was very good. The oceanfront balcony room was smallish. First design flaw is TWO outlets low and next to balcony, none in bathroom, so you have to get on floor to use an outlet. Closet open into bedroom 10" from bed. Also, our room was on 12th floor next to bridge/control room so we had officers exiting and door slamming all day(thoughtful) No irons, understandable, but Princess offers irons in a room,Royal offers to iron your shirts for $1.75 ea Having sailed on Royal owned Celebrity, was expecting a new ship to have interactive TV,music and movie channels. There is ONE movie channel which ran 4 movies continuously, all forgetable(sorry Julia),of course in Standard Royal fashion, they had $12 pay per view. Nary a popcorn had on board. FYI, Princess has 4 movie channels with recent and classic movies. Entertainment was good. They had a Beatlemania which was excellent, comedians were good, Cirque Solei and ice shows good. With 6200 passengers, you have to book shows prior to boarding. Never saw one person on rock walls, a few doing zipline. In short, many of the "attractions" are gimmicks that you prob will not use. St Maarten was beautiful, and you get 4 hours in Nassau??? Speaking with other passengers, the consensus seemed to be that the food was average, and the feeling that we were at a carnival being "huckstered" for every penny. Not worth the money and certainly going back to Princess.
