Celebrity continues to impress

Sail Date: January 2013
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: San Juan

We took our 30th cruise this month of which the 8th was Celebrity. Again Celebrity continues to impress us with their service. For 7 days there was never a staff person that was not cordial and never failing to go above and beyond our expectations to exceed our experience. Bravo to the captain for setting creating a wonderful staff.

We flew in the day of departure and after arriving at the pier at 1:10 pm we were in our cabin by 1:30. No lines at all.

Cabin:
This was our 2nd trip on the Summit and we were impressed with the cleanliness and upkeep of the ship. Although on other ships the cabin layouts are better we found the shower stall to be the largest we experienced. Our cabin steward was excellent without exception. We did find the air conditioning system somewhat inconsistent so we learned to just leave the balcony door open most of the time.

Dining:
Often we choose Select Dining with reservations but surprisingly the unreserved guest line More was moving faster than ours. At the most a 5 minute wait for seating. The food was decent but not remarkable. I've never heard of a passenger losing weight during a cruise.

The buffet is what it is. We did find the Eggs Benedict excellent and the omelettes very good but the rest of the food was as expected.

Murano was very nice with top notch service and many of the meals are prepared table-side. The quality of the food did not substantiate the added cost but the atmosphere and service was commendable.Entertainment:
All of the shows in the main theater were very good. At the week's final performance one of the entertainers did 'melt down' and the cruise director was honest enough to apologize for his mediocre show. This stuff is not prerecorded so this can be expected during a live show.

Debarkation:
We purchased a San Juan tour due to our late flight so we were off the ship by 8:10 am.

Cons:
We will never use Choice Air again. They botched our flights and refused to make any changes without charging us an additional fee. I called the airline directly and they were happy to give us better flight times without cost.. This was the first time we did not make our own flight plans....a lesson learned.

Pros:
Excellent service from every staff-person on the ship Less

Great location near elevators, between cabin floors. Not enough closet space. Very large shower stall
