Booked this short cruise while visiting family in Miami that we hadn't seen in a while. My niece had just graduated high school and we took her with us along with MIL and DS. Booked two adjacent balcony cabins on deck 7 mid ship. The cabins were comfortable but along with the rest of the ship showed signs of age, especially the bed and balcony area. I'd like to see the Destiny again once it becomes The Sunshine after the upcoming dry dock refurbishment.
Overall we had a great time during the cruise, the weather turned south a bit and we missed the stop in Key West but Cozumel was sunny, though a bit windy.
We booked the glass bottom snorkel trip in Cozumel straight from the Ferry Dock area and had a great time on the trip. The sea was quite rocky and we had to disembark north of the cruise pier and not downtown as originally planned, not the operator's fault but they could have selected a better place to get us off the boat, DW fell as we had to climb out unto a concrete bar and suffered a deep bruise on her leg.
During the cruise we noticed repeated instances when the ice and drink service in the buffet area were out of order but overall the food was very good and the service acceptable.
The dining room service was excellent (Gene, Diogo and Joy were...well a joy, very accommodating and professional), the food was very good and the whole experience was memorable (tipped all of them additionally for their outstanding service)
Yasha, our steward was also tipped for his outstanding attention and diligence. This was my MIL and niece first cruise and I was glad that they really enjoyed the trip. We missed some of the theater entertainment but what we did see was good. The other venues had similarly talented acts and we really enjoyed the Caribbean musicians and the Filipino cover band (from Greg Kihn to Eagles to Alan Parsons ....wow)
In the final analysis, it was not a perfect trip but then again what is. We enjoyed ourselves and have lifetime memories to share.
