We traveled on Wind Star on the December 8th sailing from Colon, Panama to Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica. Everything about the cruise was great. The ship had been refurbished and was lovely. The new restaurant ,Candles was very good and nice to not have to dress up and eat under the stars. The crew was very nice and extremely attentive. My father came with us and he is 85 ! Had a great time. We meet lots of people from around the US.

The first port was an island in the San Blas Islands. A very small island. Wind Star brought out all the toys and we played on the beach. Very relaxing. Small amount of shopping in a casual way. Local women selling their handcrafts. Next day we entered the Canal very early. Nice relaxing day with some excitement at the end as we barely passed under the last bridge before the pacific .a day at sea then a stop at a island in Panama called isla Del Coibe . Lovely hike with the Naturalist,Elliot . Saw monkeys and other wildlife. Beach barbecue and fun in the sun. Again all the "toys " were brought out. Stooped next at Golfito. We went ziplining and later on the rescue/orchid center trip. Ziplining was great. We saw tons of monkeys coming off the mountain after we finished . The second trip was rained on but we had fun anyway despite the cancellation of the orchid farm. If you can not sit in a small wooden boat with bench seats for long periods of time pass on this outing. My father in law did it but it was a bit much. Next stop was Bahia Drake. Very nice beach a shout hike away. We saw Toucans and Macaws when Elliot pointed them out. A trip in the morning to see whales and dolphins was pleasant but again a small boat which might not be comfortable for everyone. Only saw dolphins but a had great stop on a beach ,where we saw monkeys up close and other wildlife just a short hike(10 min) with the guides. Amazing! Loved the trip. Can't wait to go on Wind Star again. You can contact me for more info.
