We took this cruise over New Years to celebrate my 50th birthday with friends from Germany who met up with us in Miami.
Since Carnival didn't offer the flight package for this cruise (not sure why) we booked our own flights and hotel for this trip. We stayed at the Best Western Premier near the Miami airport and took the shuttle to the port. We arrived around noon and where on ship by 1.00..no waiting at all..everything went very smooth.
We had 3 rooms with balcony side by side on the Lido Deck which was a great location and it was very quiet. Our room steward Ida was excellent..trying to pronounce our German first names correctly and he made sure that the "Fun Times" were delivered in German every day..nice touch.he also got me a birthday card.
The Liberty had gone through some upgrades since our last cruise with some new bars and burger place on the Lido deck which are very good as well as new lawn furniture on the sun deck.
We went to the dining room every night..the food was excellent as always but the service was very slow...we were sitting at the table for 1.5 hours every time..way to long...not sure what the problem was..maybe the location of our table.
Went to a couple of shows which were fine..seen most of the before. Also went to the punch liner comedy club..good comedians..laughed a lot.
Our cruise director Karl with a K with outstanding..that guy is a firecracker..he got the crowd going on New Years Eve it was a lot of fun..a lot of the Carnival staff was also celebrating on the deck with the passengers..that was nice to see. We saw Karl a lot during our cruise..singing and interacting with the passengers...if you want to party..he is the guy.
We had 4 ports... Cozumel..where we swam with the Dolphins..definitely worth the money...Belize..took a snorkeling tour to rendezvous cay..excellent trip..Clyde our tour guide was very knowledgeable and took the time to tell us about Belize...Roatan...nice new port..very clean..beach was to crowded with us and the Conquest in port so we went kayaking which was very nice...and Grand Cayman which was a bit of disaster..waited 2 hours for the tender to get on land and with 5 ships in port it was way to busy to enjoy walking around and shopping so we went back to the ship.
At disembarkment we left the ship around 9am taking our luggage with us..were of the boat 15 minutes later.
Overall we had a great time again sailing with Carnival. However our next cruise in April will be with Princess..we thought we will give another cruise line a try and see if paying a bit more will make a difference.
