Excellent cruise on Mariner!!

Sail Date: December 2012
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Galveston

I had to pinch myself several times just to make sure I wasn't dreaming! Everything about this cruise was fantastic.

We drove the 20 minutes from our house to Galveston about 11:30. We parked and rode the shuttle to the terminal. Going through the security process was pretty smooth. No problem bringing our two bottles of wine and 1/2 case of bottled water. There was a bit of a wait to board but after our number was called, it only took minutes to be on the ship.

We found our cabin and it was ready so we put our things inside and took a look around. Everything was great, including the balcony. I really loved the slant of the rear-facing hump. It made it easy to sit out there and read since a lot of the wind was blocked. Also, we noticed right away there were 3 chairs on the balcony along with a small table, and still plenty of room. We were very happy about that since our daughter was with us. On our last cruise(Carnival)we had only 2 chairs on the balcony and it was More extremely tight. We couldn't be out there at the same time, unless we were just standing at the rail. We loved our cabin location.Very easy to get around the ship or jump on the elevators and get up to the Windjammer or the MDR.

We saw two shows, the Ice Show (VERY impressed!) and Bowzer of Sha Na Na. His show was funny but not enough music. Mostly a comedy act. We were in the Casino a little everyday. Never won much but it was fun to play. We did a lot of people watching which seems to be a very popular pastime on this ship. I don't think I've dome as much walking on any ship as this one, but needed it anyway.

The ports were all great. We had never been to Georgetown, Grand Caymen or Falmouth, Jamaica before. We've been to Cozumel several times. Mostly shopped near the dock, then enjoyed the half-empty ship the rest of the afternoon. The Serenty Pool and hot tub area was our favorite spot. Never too crowded.

We enjoyed all or most of the food on the Mariner. We didn't care too much for our table location in the MDR, but the service was excellent. We ate breakfast and lunch mostly in the Windjammer. We did eat once at Johnny Rockets. What a treat that was! We had a blast!

The week went by way too fast because before we knew it, we were getting kicked off. Debarkation was smooth and painless. The longest line was for customs. We were home by 11:00. It was a wonderful cruise and I'd go again in a heartbeat! Less

Cabin review: Mariner of the Seas Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom Deck 6 6328

Geat cabin. Great location, close to everything we wanted to see and do. LOVED the balcony and the fact there were 3 chairs provided, since there were 3 of us. Plenty of storage. We liked not having a shower curtain in the bathroom. Beds were comfortable. LOVE the linens! Thank you to the RC cruise specialist who suggested we book this cabin! :)
