Xmas 2012 on Rhapsody of the Seas

Sail Date: December 2012
Destination: South Pacific
Embarkation: Sydney (Australia)

This was our second Christmas cruise on Rhapsody of the Seas, our first trip was in 2010 and compaired to our earlier cruise on Rhapsody we found that this time it was a little dissapointing.

Embarking the ship was great certainly helped being a crown and anchor member, we skipped the main line and were on ship within half an hour.

Destinations were great, we went to Noumea, Champayne Bay (this place was stunning), Luganville and Mystrey Island.

we found that a majority of the staff were great, our Waiter (Julius) and Assistant Waiter (Gorgi) were fantastic along with Yudha MAN who was at the R Bar.

Photos - this was extremely disspointing, we didn't purchase any of the formal photos or photos around the ship, alot of the pictures that were taken (and not just ours I think there may be a lot of disappointed people) one of us either had eyes closed or looking a different direction, they just seemed to point and shoot and not look at their photos after More it was taken, there was probably two photographers out of all of them that actually took the time to look at what photos they have taken. To top it off they still printed the shocking photos. As far as the Destination photos, well I purchased them only becacuse I wanted a memory of where we went, but when we arrived it was just a staff memeber dressed up (previously and on other boats it has been the locals), plus our photo in noumea had the view of the containers from the container terminal, not the actual ship, other photos actually had other passengers in behind us.

We had our christmas dinner and formal night on christmas eve which we thought was abit strange, why it wasn't on christmas day we don't know, sort of made Christmas Day not so like Christmas.

Kids Club, their programs didn't really seem to change from day to day, my 6 year old wasn't overly worried, but my older boy (13) didn't want to go to the teens club. however this year, there was no kids talent show, there was only one party night which was just a PJ party, no facepainting on christmas day, no santa arriving on the ship on Christmas eve, Our last Rhapsody Christmas Cruise had so much going on for the kids.

The Cruise Director Casey and his staff were good. The shows they put on in the Centurm were fantastic especially the 70's night.

Evening Shows - this was abit disspointing as well, the Hypnotist was great, the comedian was good. and the dancers were great too, but the other entertainment well lets say we walked out on one of the shows.

The food was outstanding, the Windajammer did become abit boring so we ended up going to the acutal restuarant for lunches etc. we ate our main meal at night up in the main dining room, unfortunetly our travel agent stuffed up our dinner reservations as I had stated we wanted 6.00 dinner, but they put us on the 8.30 dinner, exteremly hard with a 6 year old who we ended up just feeding at the Windajammer everynight and then he went to kids club.

Don't get me wrong, we still really enjoyed our cruise, it's the best type of holiday and it's all part of the experience, we just felt that a few things had slipped compared to our previous cruise on Rhapsody. Less
