My mother wanted to take my whole family on a cruise. Thanks to our travel agent's advice we chose Allure of the Seas. We were 7 people in total. (1 senior, 3 adults, two 20 yr olds, and one 16 yr old). While this was my first cruise, the boat was nicer than I expected. Everything was clean and new. Cleanliness on the boat seemed to be a priority.
We stayed in 2 rooms with an ocean view and balcony and 1 room with a balcony over the boardwalk. All of the rooms were similar in size and accommodations. The rooms were very clean, there was a flat screen tv with movies to rent and some cable channels. The shower was small, but fine. There was a refrigerator, a sofa, a desk, some side tables and a closet. One of our rooms was for 3 people, so the sofa pulled out into a bed. Every morning the room was cleaned. Every night the room was straightened, the sofa bed was made, and the next day itinerary was left. We also enjoyed the sculptures made out of towels and left on the bed for us.
We chose My Time Dining, which worked out great. We dined every night, but one, at 7:45. We chose this time months before the cruise and reserved it for our family. The time was great, because it gave us relaxing and dressing time after the days activities.
One night, we ate at Central Park 150. It was expensive, but good. It was nice to experience a different restaurant for one of the nights, but it wasn't necessary. My Time Dining was in the Adagio. The menu changed nightly and was good.
every morning we reserved a few chairs by the pool. We faced the windows looking out at the ocean. It was beautiful! The windows cut down on the wind, and the view was great!
We loved the casino (for 18+), bingo, game shows, karaoke, flow rider, and blue planet show.
Communication... great tip:
If you are interested in communicating with ppl on the boat, arrive at the boat a few hours before the posted boarding tine. There are 1000 refurbished iPhones available. You can rent them for$30 for the week. You can text and call on the boat without wifi and roaming charges. It is worth it if you have a number of ppm in your party. We arrived at the boat 2 hours before boarding and they let us on the boat. 2 hours was not early enough for these phones, because they sold out about the time we got to the line at the communications desk. I think 3 to 4 hours before the official boarding time will insure phones for you. We were surprised that they let ppl board so early before the boarding time.
The ship was fantastic! I was worried about going on a big cruise during a very busy season, but we were so pleasantly surprised. It didn't seem crowded, and the ship was so well organized! We loved it. Best trip ever!
