Review for the Southern Caribbean Cruise on Grand Princess

We booked this cruise because the itinerary took us to St. Thomas on our 25th wedding anniversary. My husband and I wanted to go for 14 days but everyone else only went for 7 days so this trip worked for all of us. We made plans to rent a sailboat and renew our vows, which was wonderful. We booked through a travel agent we know and were told that having previously sailed with Royal Caribbean we would love Princess as it was way above them. Well, there were 11 of us total that sailed. We had balcony cabins and inside cabins booked. Most with inside cabins were upgraded to ocean view the day we sailed.

Overall, the ship is nice, though we like the layout of the Royal Caribbean ships better. It has shopping, cafe's, activities, etc... The staff is excellent and we really liked that both our room steward and our waiter knew all of us by name. What we didn't like was the culinary department. The food was lacking flavor and creativity. It looked pretty on the plate but the taste just wasn't great. Our son that traveled with us works as a chef and he wouldn't even say the food was good, just ok.

Everyone had a wonderful time and the ports of call were great. We all found excursions we liked and we will visit many of the ports again, just no on Princess.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin was a nice size. Balcony had 2 chairs and a table, great place to relax.
