My wife and I booked the Christmas cruise (2012) with our teenage kids and had 3 rooms altogether. Decent sized, nicely appointed with a courteous staff always close by. Embarkation was a very smooth process. We are first time cruisers so we were surprised how smoothly things went.
We had read a bunch of negative comments, and I do not know what ship they are talking about because our experience was exceptional. We ate in the restaurant and our waiter Siman was very attentive and professional we had nicely paced meals. Some of us did not order a salad but a soup, and the right course came at the right time so we ate our courses together. Desserts and choices were wonderful.
One comment about the restaurant: it seems the breakfast servers are more likely apprenticing as the evening staff was exceptional!
The buffet was decent, (great varieties daily) and the coffee in the buffet (free) was nice and strong and available most all the time. If the food was cold it was because we got caught up in all the choices and forgot to sit down and eat!
The shows had a nice variety and there was something to do at all times. The excursions were professional and our kids loved them.
Great cigar lounge and met wonderful people there and everywhere on board.
The majority of guests were European which gave it a more fun atmosphere. In our travels our experience is that Americans sometimes expect for things to be AMERICAN! You cannot expect "made to order" for 3,000 people, or for someone to pucker up if you feel insecure or if you expect your bacon to be the same everywhere( written in someone else's review) then go on an American ship with the fat spandex clad Walmart shoppers.
BUT If you want an International flavor, immaculately clean ship, pleasant people, nice guests and good value then the Poesia is for you.
